This is horribly stolen from just about everyone else, but... what an amazing idea, making you define yourself in images. I was amazingly shhocked at how accurate the final profile overview text was. Read it and lemme know how much, ME, you think it is...

<lj-embed id="1" />
Read my VisualDNA™ Get your own VisualDNA™

Oh My Goodness!

Ok, so I never ever update this baby its true. But, I had to post somewhere cause am just so excited. I really should start keeping track of my exciting days.

Anyway, last night went to the AOL invite only event in Kentish Town. Was rather amazing. Who happened to be there? Peaches Geldof (stunning! if not a bit dim), MIKA (Most amazing new artist ever), THE WINEHOUSE!, McFly and The Sugababes. Was such a good night. Got slghtly bladdered on cider, Heidi from the Sugababes laughed at me - not sure if she remembers past encounters, lol. Sugababes v3 are the est yet. - The Winehouse was AMAAAAAZING if not slightly sober for my liking. But I think she appreciated my intoxication because she kept smiling - and saw a guy I kind of went out with once at SEEC. VERY RANDOM. All in all, I was very happy, apart from some bitch who started on me, but I don't take shit from no one. Then my sister got annoyed cause I kept picking fights on the way home, lol. Some random middle aged man had a go at me for holding up the ticket gates, well eeeeexcuse you mrs. I called him grandad and told him to wank off. Haha.

In oher news from this crazy week. I got an amazing new job, start weds, am v. excited for that - start on Weds! ARGH! Mattie called me yest out of the blue - hmmmmm. We were meant to meet p last night and go to trash palace but my phone died - whoops. I will have to call him when I'm near a charger. My phone is on the blink but it is a-ok, because I am getting a new phone and contract which will have MSN on it - I'll be available 24/7, even in lectures, haha. Shocking news about some people near and dear, but can't go into that. Ummm, think thats about it really.

Don't forget, I don't love this thing, and to check out my Myspace at www.myspace.com/daneeeboy. Anyone who is not yet on MySpace *cough*liz*cough* sucks.

Feeling retrospective

I post the following for anyone who feels a bit down, stressed, annoyed, angry, worried or disenchanted by life...

I know I never update this thing. I find it really hard to write about my life. With all that's gone on I find it hard to keep up the good humour for useless posts, I find writing about my day to day life boring, and I loathe people who use their livejournal to feign emotion - If you're depressed see a psychhologist, don't talk about how shit things are in some blog.

And because things for me haven't been so great of late, I've had no compulsion to talk about things on here. Beecause of certain events, I am suffering from a bad bout of insomnia at the moment. But this morning we don't mind, and I've had a little epiphany moment, which, without everything that has happened recently I would never have come to. So give me a moment to explain...

As a result of being awake at 4am this morning, I got to see the sunrise. And it was very nice today! And since I love this time of day, and I have a brand new video ipod I've been dying to actually use, I decided to go for a stroll and listen to some tunes. I've just got "Liza with a Z" - one of the best albums in the world (ask your nearest gay man for cultural significance), so I could strut around to "Ring Them Bells".

So basically I set out into the dawn, and had a look around. I walked across the estate and thought how nice it all looked, and then over to Spencers Park, and I thought how lucky we 50, or so, families who live on my estate, are to have our very own park. I remember when Spencers Park was nothing but a big field in which the waste from building Spencers (and demolishing the garden centres where my house is), had been dumped. I remember when Spencers Park opened and it was just like a big field with a few shrubs. I suddenly realised today how those shrubs are now turning into well established wooded areas. The whole place suddenly developed without me even realising.

And it was then that everything that has been bogging me down recently left me. I guess I learned to appreciate what my life really is, rather than what I perceive it to be. I realised that even though I have been away, my life is, and really always will be rooted in the half a mile that is Spencers and Clements Hall. This is where my family is, where my oldest and dearest friends are, and where I became who I am.

And I appreciated what I have and I what I have had. I think we all spend too much time aspiring to something, or running away from something, or trying to fit with something. I remembered being at school and being told I lived in a desirable area. I remember putting one particuarly pretentious school mum's nose out of joint when she was talking about the size of her house when I 'mentioned' I lived on Spencers. It's not perfect, but from my bedroom window I can see a huge park, and on the other side of that a massive stretch of football, rugby and cricket pitches. I realised that in Coventry, you'd never find so much greenery, here, I've always had it all outside my door.

So as the sun came up over Spencers Park, "Liza with a Z" ended, and my ipod moved on from a young and perky Liza Minnelli to a Liza who has two fake hips, a semi-real knee, arthritus, was paralyzed and has been through several high profile drink and drug problems, singing "The World Goes Round". And in the first lines of the song "sometimes you're happy, and sometimes you're sad, but the world goes round" summed up the place I moved to emotionally. I realised that really, no matter what happens, life goes on, and I will always have all that I have had up to now. I have a pretty good life, I have good friends and family, and people, jobs, dreams and hopes will come and go but things will always work out ok.

And, the final Liza song of the day - as all gay men should remember - even if things go REALLY tits up, 'Life Is A Cabaret' old chum!

EDIT: Because no Liza post is complete without THE MOST AMAZING SCENE IN A FILM EVER, and because it reminds me of germany...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0j443725cU

Our day of mouring

A few years ago, the publishing industry lost a very influencial magazine. During the 80's, the Face changed the world of publishing forever in it's use of typography, colour and design. At the same time, a more mainstream magazine was changing the way magazines are written with it's irreverant and witty articles, and evolving the ideas going on over at the Face and taking it mainstream. These two magazines are hailed as probably the most important magazine publications of the past 20 years and will always be remembered.

This month, the very last ever issue of Smash Hits! will be published. Goodbye old friend.

So Chantelle wins Celeb Big B

Awww, how lovely :) Britain now has our own answer to the ultimate celebrity: Paris Hilton. And she'll do so much a better job than that cow who was made up of the bits that Jordan had chopped off - Jodie Marsh.

I'm actually glad, cause I wouldn't have wanted any of the others to win it. And Pete Burns' facial expressions were brill. He's such a sad and pathetic loser with a capital L who had one hit song and that was in the 80's, the same decade that brought us the likes of Sam Fox (eww). You did not write or sing 'Vogue'. Get over it love, Kelly Osbourne had three hit singles and she's a loser too. Any idiot can do it

Pete is actually quite repulsive. He spent the whole thing looking like he'd been drinking vinegar, and don't get me started on those teeth. They're veneers which are cheap versions of enamels. If you're gonna be on telly atleast get the real things, bozo. If Pamela Anderson's aim was to look like Barbie, did Pete Burns set out to look like a cabbage patch kid?

HOLY CRAP! They got me!

This morning, on the road they call Humber Avenue. A sleepy little road on which I reside, there was a disturbance. Like desperate housewives, things around here were not as they seem.

So the police turn up - lots of em - and they're doing a drugs raid! AAAAH! Exciting shit.

On the same morning, the following parcels arrived on my floor looking something like this:

And inside was stuff like this:

Innocent enough. Until closer inspection...

Holy shit they're on to me. God bless my sole! Love you all, and if they catch up with me remember this - buy every Madonna single, she's a huge megastar but if people get complacent and stop buying the singles cause they think she'll get to number one anyway she'll slip to the rank of the charts reserved for people like Victoria Beckham and Son Of Dork. Just warning you.

Bog Roll Wars: Part I

You know what this -----> is??? IT'S FUCKING BOGROLL! You are probably quite farmiliar with what it is and what it does and where it lives and how you use it. It's not that expensive (altho the more you pay the easier it is to walk properly), and you probably don't use that much a day.

UNLESS YOU'RE HOUSEMATE 5.

Housemate 5 lives in a house with 4 other people. Housemate 5 uses the same toilet as the 4 other people. Housemate 5 probably has bowl problems (unconfirmed). Housemate 5 does not buy bog roll. Ever.

As such, we are facing BOGROLL CRISIS 06, and are massively short of the stuff. We are not, however, massively short of the shit. You can see the problem.

Anger is building, constipation is growing, and housemates 2 through 4 have had enough. They realise that the only contribution to the problem Housemate 5 has ever made is to steal a roll of what can only be described as an arse ripping, non-absorbant, couldn't even give to a homeless bum, roll of tissue paper stolen from a chavy club.

The result is that, starting on this day, Housemates 2 through 4 and myself will be secretly passing softer than soft Andrex between eachother like it's World War II or summit. What will Housemate 5 do? Time will tell. Check back for updates and to find out if Housemate 5 has cracked (or exploded).

Viva la Revolution!

Hey kiddies!

You're probably all shocked and amazed to see me updating my livejournal! As am I! But here's the beef: I hate livejournal. I don't hate my friends', I just hate mine. Why would anyone wanna read about my life? I get bored writing about it.

Then it struck me, I'm a media degree student who studies journalism... I have a BTEC in journalism and I am a published journalist. Technically I should be able to write about stuff, so why am I so bad at writing a livejournal? I don't write in this thing like I write when I'm being journalistic. I'm not funny or irreverent, and I don't talk about interesting stuff. Summarising my day isn't floating my boat, but many things do, so its time for a whole new approach to this ball game.

This is gonna be better than when Gary Barlow said those immortal words "yes, the rumours are true..." (the second time, not the first time, cause i don't want anyone to shed a tear).

Expect a wave of updates like you have NEVER SEEN BEFORE! Oh and has anyone else noticed how fugly and clunky LJ actually is?

You're experienced. You know how to handle yourself in a relationship, and many people appreciate that. Many people, all in a row.

You've had your share of blissful beginnings, to be sure. But things almost never turn out how you'd like, do they? The problem is you're never happy with someone for an extended period of time. Relate to the following:

Vapor Trails especially need a guy who will laugh at their jokes. They're also the most likely male type to be haunted by serious regret.

FACT: A few of your exes, the ones you were best to, will always love you. Nice going.

ALWAYS AVOID: The Backrubber, The Gentleman

CONSIDER: The Vapor Trail

Link: The 32-Type Dating Test by OkCupid - Free Online Dating.
My profile name: daneeeboy69

Time for a quickie

Hellloooooo! I have to be quick because I'm in the library - I have a letter to write, and another letter of Claire's to post, and I have to pay the rent, so it's all mad. We have no net at home and it's doing my nut.

Anyways, hope all is cool with everyone else. Been a mad few for me here. Back at work already - it's short staffed because EVERYONE has left - like, there's me and 3 other original people left, mad! I don't know alot of the new staff which has led to a few ocnfusions but it's cool - they all seem really nice.

Went into work Sat night to socialise and ended up crawling home at 6am... oh dear. :P Went to Ikon last night for student night - was rammed and very studenty, but I enjoyed it. Lots of gossip going on at the moment so having a hard time keeping up with it. Did meet a guy (I presume a fresher cause I've never seen him before) who was very very sexy. Some of these freshers are fit man! Anyway, will have to give him a few more smiles before the end of term.

Uni is shit - only in two days a week - booooooring. Finish uni on March 24th this year - MADNESS! So I should be in Essex from then on - which means I will be at home for my 21st... might have to make use of the house in Cov tho for a paaaartay or two.

Looking for places for my work placement though. At the moment we're going for.... MTV, Channel 4, the BBC, and a few record companies. Fingers crossed for Dan!!! I wanna get into MTV - HELLO! It's based in Oxford Street, Leicester Square and Camden, and they'll pay me £250 a week - as an intern.

Errrrrmmmm, anything else to tell - not alot really. I need to hurry up, Ralph (housemate) is having a house party tonight. The rest of us haven't invited anyone cause we can't be arsed, lol. Me and Claire have bought a bottle of wine each and we're gonna get pissed and stoned in the corner. Hopefully some sexy men will come, we're both in need of a good bit of loving! If not, the Coventry black book may have to come out.

Dan xxx

Running Down The Avenue...

Today I feel like I'm going to end up like Twiggy in the M&S advert... representing the golden oldies in years to come!!!

Told you I would only update this thing when i had something today, and have alot to talk about today.

First up, Friday - Jenny and I went to college to talk to people from the Beacon award. Basically, it's a publishing award that the college Magazine we started has been shortlisted for! It's pretty big news for everyone involved - the Beacon Award is a big and prestigious award. If we win, the college gets alot of money (which is brilliant for the future of the magazine) and it becomes a Beacon status publication - meaning that I can put the 'Beacon' bit on my CV. That makes my CV alot lot lot lot more attractive - especially considering I was involved in the conception of the magazine, the publicity of it but I am also published in it - with my name in the credits list AND next to my article. Wicked!

One of the best things about the day, apart from being an emotional reunion with the college and all my old lecturers, was that we got to see what happened to magazine after we left, as in the two issues that came after ours. It has gotten better with age, and I hope it will continue to do so. We all went for lunch, and were then involved in a presentation of the magazine's history - in it they showed what had come before it, the work we did (which was the main emphasis of it), where the staff have gone on to, but also the future of the magazine - which is multimedia. It's dead exciting to see it going in a whole new direction... in the next year, they plan to launch a DAVE website, then hopefully a DAVE radio show and even a DAVE television broadcast.

We think the Beacon people were very impressed, especially considering we all got very emotional over the whole thing. It was funny to see photos of us all on the launch day, and talk about what we did. Thankfully the photos of me making a speech to the whole of SEECAFE on the day with my arse hanging out were lost! Phew! I managed to miss out on being in all the drunken photos of the launch party too - yay.

Jenny and I turned up early and got to park in the college's VIP carpark. It was dead weird to be wondering round the new college. It's kinda like the old college, but with a big open bit in the middle. Oh my god, they even have pool tables, and SEECAFE is called 'SCOFF'.

Final bit of news from the day I know my A Level friends will find hard to believe - when we went to the buffet lunch, Jayne Clarke turned up and I said hello, and she was all nice back. Then she came to chat to us and was asking me what I'm up to and stuff. She thanked us for coming back for the event and told us it was good to see us. Later went to the pub and saw Syd, who gushed about us being there then said Jayne was really impressed with us. I said something along the lines of "I bet she didn't see that coming when she kicked me out of college", and Syd said that Jayne had said how impressed she was with me, and how far I had come from that fateful day! Then she came over and told us herself how proud she was of all of us and how we had to come back to college again and work with the new students and such.

Then on Sat, my little sugar puff, my passion flower, my Sarah came home! AVE IT LARGE! So we all went out that night and had a massive essex celebration. Penny and her friend Liz turned up with Sarah (with Pen's hair looking lush and Sarah's tan looking too good), and we all headed off in the little yellow Ka to Jenny's house! Where we consumed wine, did our hair, met little Stu and headed into town. Few drinks in the post then on to Bakers where we danced like geeks and had much fun! Dontcha wish your boyfriend could suck like Dan??

Feeling funny about life tonight! Jenny and I had a discussion the other day about it. She's looking to buy a house and settle down, which worries me, cause we're only young!! Her plan is to have kids at about 25/26... I told her my plan is not to properly settle down (or stop going out) until I'm about 40... and she reminded me her kids will be 15 when I give up, lol! "Uncle Dan, it's time to stop partying! You'll give yourself a heart attack!) lol. Scary thoughts though, I'm not rea`dy to give up yet,, I've not even started!!

A quick update

Since I am just awful at updating this thing! I really must learn. I have discovered I am just not good at writing about my own life. Maybe I shall move on to write about something else. I am looking at ideas for blogs and such. For when I am a big media player.

I am just sitting here, at 9am, curled up in my big chair watching Breakfast at Tiffanys. It's my life film. I go to bed atleast twice a week watching it, but I usually fall asleep waay before the end, so I'll sit here and sip coffee and watch it all the way through this rainy morning i think.

An update!

OK, I knew I'd be terrible at updating this thing!!! But hey ho, best not to say anything if you don't have anything interesting to say. And you get a nice big roundup of recent events :)

Lets see... last weeked was V Festival! Aaaah! Soo wicked. Scissor Sisters. Franz Ferdinand, Jet, Goldie Lookin Chain, The Zutons, Jem, Natasha Bedingfield. Estelle, Oasis, Goldfrapp (my new favourite band), and Tony Christie (is this the way to Amerillo?). I got to shake my bootie to some of my favourite bands - Scissor Sisters were as ever amazing finishing the weekend off perfectly. We shall be in attendance against next year too - but this time many more of us. For the previous two years it's just been me and Natalie, but next year we're going to get as many people to come as possible, so we can camp, setup a big camp site with boxes of wine and inflatable chairs, hahaha. Just like home! Wonder if I can put a chandelier in a tent??

This week have been out a few times - the Alex on Tuesday night, skanking round like a mad man!

Tonight Natalie had Jac, Richard and Krishna round which was funny and lots of fun and we ate pizza and chinese. Mmm. :)

Supposedly going car shopping in the morning, got the family over Sunday then going to see Mike. How exciting!

Dan x

Oh what a night!

As you may have been able to tell, I was very very drunk. I'm leaving those last two posts for the memories, lol. Yes, I was in that state of mmind where i loved everyone and everyone loved me and i wanted the world to know... oh dear.

Anyways, it was Jac's 18th birthday and we all had a wicked time. I hope the fact that mmost of em were getting their a level results tomorrow didn't put em off. They did say we were the loudest bunch in Chameleon, which was sweet.

So aside from that, all I'm doing is recovery. Heard from Mike West, a very old friend yesterday and must get a chance to go and see him and say hey in his new place in southend. I've got lots of get done so really had better get my arse in gear and get into southend at some point.

Right now I'm sitting in the sun and feeling very hot, but loving it. I've got no protection on - watch out skin cancer here I come. Lol, but it's all good. Been speaking to anne and really want to drive up to hers for her party in York next week or whenever it is, but think I'm too scared, lol. I want liz to come with and make sure i drive in a straight line (and if i don't drive she can ;) ) but she reckons she has to work, boooo. Suppose it all depends on me finding a bloody car too, it's turning out to be a proper mission. I've called a few places today and I'v e been to look at different garages but... nothing!

Oh well, off to see Charlie and the Chocolate factory again tonight. It was good the first time so I reckon I can sit through it again. More a chance to socialise and see people anyway.

Dan x
